National Training and Technical Assistance Initiative

Building on more than 25 years of experience in program development and training, the Center helps local and national organizations utilize intergenerational strategies to meet individual, family and community needs. The center has provided consultation to over 500 organizations in the education, youth, aging and family service areas. The staff's expertise is based in their direct experience in creating and evaluating intergenerational programs and providing technical assistance.

In 2005, the Center received a grant from the HRC Foundation to establish ITEN, the Intergenerational Training Experts Network. ITEN team members are a select group of national experts in intergenerational programming, with specialties in aging, youth development, early childhood, evaluation and training. We can help:

  • Non profit agencies mobilize older volunteers
  • Organizations utilize intergenerational strategies to meet program goals
  • Communities develop a lifespan approach to address community needs The Center offers:
  • Workshops on intergenerational program issues, including building partnerships, program planning, recruiting and training youth and older adult volunteers and fundraising.
  • Individualized on-site and telephone consultation services to o organizations interested in integrating intergenerational approaches or age 50+ volunteer recruitment into their programs, o grantmakers interested in promoting intergenerational strategies, senior engagement or youth services.
  • In-depth training to communities and organizations in the replication of model programs.
  • Skill-building and sensitivity training for youth and older adults who will participate in programs
  • Performances by our Full Circle Theater Troupe to raise awareness about age-related issues and social concerns
  • Evaluation consultation to help organizations plan and implement assessment of program effectiveness.
